3B: CHRIS SABO/SCOTT ROLEN
Chris
Sabo and Scott Rolen combined for eight All-Star games, seven gold gloves,
two World Series Championships, and both won Rookie of the Year Awards.
Scott Rolen began his career in 1996, while Chris Sabo ended his the same
year. Since 1996 the Reds have had a multitude of players man the hot
corner. Sabo and Rolen may be two of the more established athlete's to
occupy the position in recent years. Barry Switzer once said, “Some people
are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple." As
we examine each player respectively, we reveal how most would agree Sabo and
Rolen belong on third base.

2B: MARIANO DUNCAN/BRANDON PHILLIPS
Hall of Famer Bid McPhee played 2,129 total games at second base for the
Cincinnati Reds. He accomplished this playing during all of the Reds' first
eighteen seasons as a professional baseball team (1882-'99), acquiring more
games at second base than any other player in franchise history. Ron Oester
is second on the list playing 1,171 games at the position while Hall of
Famer Joe Morgan is third with 1,116. Mario Duncan played 189 games at
second base for the Reds during his career and Brandon Phillips has played
there 595 times for the Reds going into the 2010 season. Duncan and Phillips
have attained 784 combined starts at the position.

1B: JOEY VOTTO/HAL MORRIS
First base this season is owned by Joey
Votto, but before the 1990 season began the Reds had two players fighting
for the position. Hal Morris and Todd Benzinger went into Spring Training
1990, both having the same intentions to start the season at first base.
Benzinger got the nod, but during the regular season they split the time at
first virtually in half (Benzinger started 82 games at first and 8 in the
outfield while Morris started 80 games at first and 6 in the outfield). Both
Benzinger and Morris helped propel Cincinnati to the post-season in 1990,
but due to Morris' longevity with the Reds, career accomplishments, and flat
out awesome haircut, we're marking him down as the the 1990 Reds first
baseman.
